So, what’s next?

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, rodents of unusual size: It would seem that Nerd Parade has found itself at the end of another long string of one-nighters. We’ve been out on the road and back on the heels of our most recent album The Span of a Life. We’ve played some great festivals, television shows. We’ve garnered a bit of critical praise for our work. Heck, we even won a couple of fancy awards on the way!

Well, what in tar-nation do we do now?

First things first: we are taking a minute to breathe. A few days (maybe even a couple of weeks) to get excited about music again. Once we’ve rested and repaired our battered bodies, we are convening to write and record new material at the newly-designated Casa de Nerd Studios. Our hope is that sometime in the next 90-120 days, we will be delivering a new collection of music, most of which has yet to be written.

The prospect of writing a record in the studio is thoroughly exciting to me.  There’s a certain fluidity to the process (and the ability to change anything at any time) that I find really appealing. The new record already carries a working title: Daylight Savings Time, and the few songs we have currently dedicated to it speak very differently from the songs of our last two records. Where A Delicate Bashing was a slice of “indie rock & electronica” and The Span of a Life was more of a “progressive rock” record, Daylight Savings Time promises to touch on those sounds, while taking us into brave new territory where we will create a record from pure vision, rather than practice.

Of course, I’m sure there will be lots of updates, pictures, and videos of the recording process. We’ll keep you informed and try not to annoy you with excessive internet information dissemination (say that 5 times fast.) We thank you all for your support and enthusiasm for our little band. We’ll see you on the other side!
