There are periods in evolutionary history when a species appears that has clearly benefited from its mutations. One such beast, emerging from the fertile ooze of the Atlanta music scene, is Nerd Parade. The duo, comprised of Randy Garcia & Chris Sheldon, took great pains to stew their collective influences together and develop an original approach to songwriting and performance before flopping out onto the shore and stretching their new-fangled legs.

Multi-instrumentalist Randy Garcia has performed in some of the most adventurous and quixotic ensembles ever to grace a stage — and has traveled the country extensively as a solo artist. Chris Sheldon, a veteran and founder of numerous ensembles has also spent years as a studio and touring drummer.

Working together since 2006, The Nerd Parade blends their vast collection of influences into a mélange that is both familiar and fresh. Never taking them-selves too seriously, or allowing comfort through musical complacency, the duo’s “D.I.Y” approach to business has afforded them to move in great strides while remaining artistically free and controlling the full extent of their forward progress.

With the instant successes of their first offering, A Delicate Bashing and their technically expansive follow-up, The Span of A Life, Nerd Parade has garnered much critical acclaim and a well-deserved fan base. The strength of the ensemble’s live performances has, in turn given them the opportunity to play increasingly larger venues, festival shows, and to share stages with many notable acts.

Nerd Parade’s positive outlook, tireless legwork and curiously infective sonic qualities have poised them to make even larger strides in 2010. With material being finalized for the band’s third and most ambitious full length effort, the future evolution of Nerd Parade most certainly will be a dramatic leap forward for the group and its fans.
